LEGO, a plastic toy, with infinite possibilities. Open up a kit of Lego and you don't just have the model on the front of the box to build (although everyone usually builds that one first). A box of Lego opens up a whole new world. You can be a king of a castle then a manager of the worlds biggest shopping mall, onto a oil rig controller, to a space commander. The kits are not limited by the picture on their box, they are only limited by your imagination.
Ole Kirk Christiansen, master carpenter and joiner, opens a business in the village of Billund, Denmark. He manufactures stepladders, ironing boards and wooden toys. His son, Godtfred Kirk Christiansen soon after works with his father. The name of the company is formed, LEGO. Comprised from the Danish words "LEg GOdt" ("play well").
The company switches from producing wooden toys to plastic toys and then soon comes upon the idea of making interlocking brick toys that allow people to build fantastic models. The company begins selling kits to build models and the rest is history. Now there are millions of Lego kits sold world wide each year.
Lego is now known world wide, there are Lego toys in almost every country around the world, there are thousands of model kits and there are even Lego theme parks, with massive models standing over a hundred feet high built buy tiny little Lego bricks.
Current Lego model themes include: Alpha Team, Belville, Bionicle, Galidor, Harry Potter, Island Extreme, Jack Stone, Orient Expedition, Racers, Sports, Star Wars and Trains. There are more including Lego Mindstorms, the robotic Lego kits that actually allow you to build working robots with logic and intelligence truly a leap in toy technology.
Lego toys are extremely flexible, they can be joined together in more than the standard ways, of just normal connection. They also work with all the other Lego kits. Just because you bought the Harry Potter kit doesn't mean it won't work with the Castles sets or Bionicle sets. Just think, Harry Potter could battle Alpha Team, while Bionicle models create havoc and then out of no where a train comes in and saves the day for everyone, and that's just from the kits. You can recombine the kits to form whole new worlds, the level of creativity is only limited by your imagination.

You don't have to buy kits, there are boxes of Lego, simply for building, buy 10 or 20 and you could build a whole city!

The next time you pick up a box of Lego, don't just think how cool the one model is, you can do better than that. Play Well!
